View Full Version : Spawning Damsels (?)

I just saw some (hundreds) tiny fish in my aquarium, newly hatched I guess (about 2-3 mm or so). I think they are fish as they don't move like the jerky shrimp/pod spawn do. And they also look like, well, baby fish, which is some thing I have plenty of experience with in FW tanks.

Anyway, I have 2 green chromis of unknown gender, and 3 blue devils, one of which I think is a male based on his appearance. My question is, does anyone have any experience with either green chromis or blue devils spawning and actually having the spawn hatch? I never even saw the fish do it, but obviously one set of these fish did. I feel bad because I have absolutely no way of capturing these little guys and saving some of them, so I guess they are doomed to being coral and mushroom food :(

I had a pair of Yellowtails that bred (and still do) constantly.

It is quite labor intensive to rear the young. They make great food for the other fish and inverts.

Take care,
