hi all,

In setting up my DSB, should I use the Caribsea Aragamax (cs00930) or the Aragamax Select (cs00932)? Or I can choose either one?

Aragamax 00930 sugar-sized sand is 0.2-1.2 mm
Aragamax 00932 oolitic select sand is 0.5-1.02 mm

Which one should I use? Are they both okay?

I think the oolitic select is in the right size range for most DSB critters. HTH!

Ron Shimek suggests using grain size 0.125 for the sand bed, would both of these carib-sea sand be okay? Because they seem pretty close in the grain size? Do you know what size are the SOuthdown play sand? Or I can use whatever aragonite sand that's less than 1.5 mm in grain size is fine?

Thanks!

Use southdown if you can find it. Just make sure it's the right stuff first. It's got perfect grain size. Most people use oolitic, and the sugar sized sand has some very small grain size, so a large part of it is somewhat useless. I would think that going with the sand whose average grain size is closest to the optimal grain size would be best. In this case it would be the oolitic.

TP, I will be using the 930 for my new tank.
