Ok, this is driving me crazy. I have Hagen test kits and my calcium had been reading in the low 300's. So I was using turbo cal and still did not break 360 , but my alk was fine.
Now, the Hagen test kit has General Hardness and Carbonate Hardness. My KH (carbonate hardness) is 100 mg/L and my GH (general hardness) is well over 300 mg/L. My calcium is 340.
1..What is the GH for? I assumed that it is the calcium and the alk all together and that I added too much Turbo cal. I was adding for a few days with little change in calcium but alk was fine.
2..Am I too low on calcium or too high?
3..What happens to the reading if your calcium is off the charts?
