I have heard good things about Nikon Coolpix series -- the 880, 950, and 990, but am unsure of which model is best for my application. I'll be using it primarily to take pictures on family trips and print them on a HP or Epson photo printer. Occassionally, I'd like to take macro shots of the creatures in my reef...

Also, what accessories should I get if I do go with the Coolpix?

Thanks!

go with the 880. You'll also have to get the rechargeable battery and charger... best buy has it for $100. For macros you can get magnification lenses, but unless you're really into it... it's probably not worth it. Also, look into getting a larger compact flash card.

You will not regret buying a NIKON digital camera. I have the 990 and have used the 950 and 880 and i have had no problems with it at all. Also look into the newest addition to the line the 995.
By the way if you need a Compact Flash Card I made an impulse buy on Ebay and i don't even need it. It is a Simple Tech 64mb CF I card and you can have it for the same price i paid for it on ebay.

The nikon's are great cameras. You might look at the Olympus 3000 though. Has the same features as the 990 but I have seen them for about $440 (cnet.com). More bang for the buck.

A great website to go to is http://www.dpreview.com . You can compare the features side by side, and even look at full size sample photos - if you have the time and modem... :)
