I was just listening to one of their songs and was just wondering what they've been up to since they split, how long has it been?
I guess I'm dating myself here - most of you probably don't remember ;)

After an amazing break out album they took something like 7 years to come up with a follow up album.
Another six or seven years until the third.
They were sued multiple times by the the record company because of there tardiness.
They release a fourth album last year but it was pretty much considered a wasted effort, a good portion of the original band was not even on it.

They are playing some shows here and there... but from all accounts, havent been doing "that much"
Tom Scholz's son is my pledge brother (no ****!) and says not much has been going on. We all go to go for super discount to one of the shows this summer, which was pretty cool...
its a small world i suppose

Well, I guess their better days happened in the late 70s. Too bad, they were a good group, awesome sound. I like to crank up my car stereo until my rearview mirror vibrates when they're on.
Sued? They probably just weren't interested that much anymore.
Really, Tom's son is your pledge brother......it's great you got a good discount for the show...

their debut album was great. one of the best debut albums of all time in my opinion. right up there with the doors first album. i never liked any of their other stuff though.
as a side note, what do you guys think is the best debut album of all time?

i heard that at least some of the group dropped out of MIT to start the band or pursue the band, not sure which. don't know if that's true though.

Their 1976 debut album is still my alltime favorite.......lots of memories....
Tom has said that he made that entire first album almost entirely (actually some of the songs entirely) by himself. He played and recorded each instrument, and then mixed them for the songs.
He also said that there was only one other member (can't remember the name) that was of some importance to all of their music. The other members he said were strickly there so that people would think they were a group and for touring.
IMO the music of Boston was very unique, and will go down as some of the best of all time.
BTW, I find it funny that I can hear a current song by one of todays groups that people think so much of, and generally peg the style to a group from the past. Not much new IMO.

I just knew it......I had heard something about that.
NO ONE can duplicate their music, today's groups should stick to today's music (as much as I don't like it, their music I mean)
icsonka39, you won't know unless you try it:rollface:

Tom also invented some cool guitar effect gizmos and the rockman as well.

That's probably why Boston's music seemed ahead of their time
Ron, those are some good debut albums.....so many more I can't remember them all :)

Yeah, Fran lives up here in Swampscott. He seems a pretty nice guy, spends most of his time fishing. He's got a nice little Grady. He fishes locally, and he also does a lot of tournaments. Turns out that if you're good at it, you can actually make some money fishing.

Brad Delp (lead singer of Boston) has a side project with band covering Beatles tunes. They played around a lot last fall....REALLY good.

Brad Delp hit my girlfriend with a golf ball! :eek1:
About 4 years ago at a miniature golf course in Salem, NH. We just finished on 9 and he and his son were starting on 1. For some reason he really hit the thing - like he was making a drive on a regular golf course. The ball flew up and hit her hand, which was in her pocket at the time.
She went into the restroom to run cold water on it and he was very apologetic and worried, to the point that he tried to go into the women's restroom to see if she was OK. She basically said "What the hell are you doing? Get out of here!"
That's about it... :)
