I woke up this morning and went to check on my tank and i noticed a small patch of hot pink goo on my acro colony. It is in the same spot that there was some sort of creatrue. I think it is some sort of clam, but i have never been able to see it very well, let alone take a picture. It has often had a goo around it, but its always clear and it just looks like typical coral slime. but today it is hot pink. here are a few pictures... Please help me decide if this si good, bad, or harmless. thanks.

Interesting, I have no idea what it is, but Mako and I have been exchanging PMs about your pics. He seems to think it might be red cotton candy algae. I can't verify this as I have not seen this algae.

You might want to post the pics in Eric's coral forum (http://reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=84) to get his opinion.

Ill post this in other forums tonight. probably the sps and eric's. I just want to get as many people to see it as possible, thats why i posted in the reef forum.

Wild Guess...

Could it be an egg sack of some type left by the "creature"? Maybe during maturation it turned from clear to pink?

I removed the creature. It looked like a mussel or clam of some sort. The pink and the clear goo have gone and there is only a slight disruption on the surface. You wouldnt even know there was anything there.

same color, but there was no substance to the goo. it was just slimy. Its all gone now, but I would still like to know what it is.

Looks like some kind of (non parasitc) bacterial growth to me.
