Gobies kickin' up sand

I put in 2 diamond gobies yeaterday and they rock! They school and seem to keep the sand clean as ever.

The problem: My tank is very new and the DSB has not compacted. Every mouthful of sand for a goby = huge sand storm.

The solution: LFS suggested a canister filter in addition to my skimmer and wet/dry.

Does this sound like a good way to get the water back to crystal?

Not at all. Yeah a canister will get the sand out of the water, but the gobies will just keep picking it up. Eventually you're gonna run out of sand. Ok maybe you won't run out, but a cannister won't fix your problem. Chances are it will just clog or seize up. Those diamonds are great for stirring the sand, but be prepared, they're always gonna stir it. This may also mean throwing onto corals.
