Hello all,

My goby has recently developed a few black patches on his skin and Im not sure what is causing it. He doesnt seem stressed at all and is still eating good. I looked through whatever books i have and couldnt find any diseases that resembled what my fish has. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

if the black is only on the underside
it may be normal coloration developing.
mine has it also.

Are the patches symetrical? Are they almost like "stripes" along the body? My Pinkspotted shrimp goby will get dark vertical stripe patches and a darker face when I put my hands in the tank (presumably stressed)....

Hello again all,

I got a good look at my goby today while he was ot of his burrow eating. There are 2 black patches, and they are on his upper back. There are circular in shape, and do not resemble stripes. I am at a complete loss as to what they might be.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Could you get a picture? It would certainly help to diagnose the problem.

I will try to get my hands on a digital cam, but he will probally make it very difficult to get a picture of him. Most of the time only his head is poking out of his burrow, but I will try.
