I like the pictures that the Nikkon takes. I use my dad's Sony, and have been pretty happy with the pictures it takes. There is a new Sony coming out that I am very interested in. Instead of diskettes or annoying cables, it writes to a small CD. The CD is about as big as a diskette, but also runs on any CD-ROM. It looks pretty slick.

Ok I know Ive seen bits and pieces of remarks about people's digital cameras, but since Im looking into possibly getting one, I was wanting some personal reviews of reefers cameras. Since taking pictures of my reef and other everyday stuff is probably what I want it for, I figured I would ask people who have them to give their thoughts on the cameras they have or have used etc. Im not looking to spend oodles of cash, since this is just a "web/email" picture camera. I guess Id like to know Type, features, pic qual, battery life, cost, etc. Hopefully Im not the only one who wants this info :D.

I have a Nikon CoolPix 950 and I love it.

It has the resolution - up to 1600x1200 - and all the features I wanted - optical zoom, macro, built-in plus external flash capabilites. Transferring the pictures to my PC is easy via PCMCIA flash card adapter. Battery life with Alkalines is not good, but I have two sets of NiMH batteries and they last well.

They are not cheap - and I bought mine at the worst time :( - but IMO worth the expense.

I toiled over the Coolpix990 and the Olympus 3030.......bought the Olympus and it is amazing. I am very happy with it after 3 weeks and many battery recharges. I have taken 1000+ pictures already. Well worth the $900 plus accessories I paid for it!

If the link works, you can view my aquarium pics (taken in the first days after I received the camera) at Zing.com.
