Ive read a couple of post on using GE silicone, but could not get a definate yes or no answer on the use of "GE Silicone II 100% Silicone Sealant Clear" Kitchen & Bath Sku#7702705040. If I can NOT use this, can you please tell me which is the right one?
Thanks,
SD

As far as I know, any 100% silicone is good. If you see any with mold resistance or anything like that, don't use it.

I've used GE Silicone I 100%silicone for windows and door (blue label). with no problems. Silicone II I think has a mildew inhibiter so I wouldn't use that one. Also DAP 100% silicone works too..

I guess I'll take the GE II back and look for the other...:)

"Kitchen and Bath" is DEFINATELY the WRONG one. I know for a fact that that one contains MILDEWCIDES (aka Arsenic).

What you want is the Silicon I, "Door and Window", make sure it's the CLEAR one, not colored. If I'm not mistaken, if you read that one completely it says NOT For Aquarium use... but this is the one that is 100% silicon with no nasty additives, and it has been used by many aquarists.

Good Luck!

They also have GE Silicone II 100% Silicone Sealant Clear for door and window which is without MILDEWCIDES.
That should work fine.

One good, but non-scientific test is to smell the silicone. If it has any mildewcides, it will smell (strongly) like bug spray. Otherwise, it will smell like strong vinegar.

To be safe, always use Silicone I from GE or DAP 100% silicone.

What you want is GE silicon I door and window clear. It is part number ge000012 I believe. It will work fine and can be found in most stores that sell silicon.
