Here's the scoop guys... I have a 15g.... and on the back of it right now I have the CPR Aquafuge... I want to get a 15g sump working under my main tank, mainly for volumn...

Was wondering if you guys would advise this move...

Keep in mind that the back of my tank is FULLY viewable to the living room crowd... imagine... walking into the door and seeing the tank, and then walking some more and you'd be in the living room... so the back is totally seen...

What makes it worst is the area that I have to work w/ is quite condensed... not much area at all....

Will it be too messy? Worth it taking this into consideration??

A lot of the sumps I see have the nice cabinet to cover everything up w/ the doors, I don't have that luxury... any thoughts aesthetically?

Thanks!

Here's a shot of a new system I'm setting up, it's a 75g over a 70g sump on a wrought iron double stand, the sump tank was very scratched so I painted it! Sump is hard to see, but there are 2 viewing windows, for sand bed & pump area.

WARNING !! SOCIAL COMMENTARY AHEAD !!

If they don't like it that's their problem, don't make it your problem . In reality if your tank looks good the general public will never see anything but the tank. Once they see the tank they won't even notice the rest of the room. And if they notice and don't like it screw them, it's your home not theirs :D . Do what makes you happy .

And that's how I really feel ;) ,

Don't hold back, tell us how ya really feel!! LOL  Here's a better shot of the project sump, I put the *artsy* pic on the DSB side 7" from the bottom because there's a 7"-8" sand bed going in there!

Who's going to see it the most - YOU  In my experience most guests are so intrigued by what's in the tank they don't notice the plumbing :D

well I cant say I exactly went for show quality. I waited untill my wife was asleep to do this. I think sumps are as beautiful as the show tank when presented correctly. The diversity of life can be truly amazing in a sump. Good luck and keep us updated.

It is all in how you do it. This worked for me. And more can be seen on this page: http://www.sparklingfloorservice.com/tank/55sump.html

Just do it,
Thats all that matters, I ran a 30 gal tank for a sump from a yard sale till I saved enough to get a nice sump and my tank still looks the same now.

Here is my old "sump".

It was a 75-gallon tank with a 75-gallon "sump" that contained the skimmer as usual. I lit it with 440-watts of VHO and filled it with Ricordea:
