I am looking to upgrade my lighting from PC260w to MH/PC lights. I have a 72 gal bowfront so canopies aren't so easy to come by. Right now I have the top open with eggcrate and my PC lights on legs over the tank. My options are:
1. get a canopy and mount the lights on the canopy with retrofit kits. getting the canopy will be the hardest part with the bowfront shape.
2. build a frame to sit over the tank as sort of legs to hold up a pendant fixture or make a box to mount a retrofit kit into. Not sure about the aesthetics of this one, but probably the cheapest way and the coolest (temp-wise) way but the most work.
3. get a fully functional pendant fixture and hang it from the ceiling. I'd like to avoid this if I can as this would be in the living room and there is a small halide light already set into the ceiling above the tank. It can be done but should it be done.
I'd appreciate any thoughts, opinions, ideas, criticisms, and comments. TIA
