I just got a Maxi-Jet 1200 for a seaclone I got from someone.

I assembled it and hooked it up to the seaclone tube.

I opened the Venturi Air Control valve and it SPITS WATER!!!!

WHAT am I doing wrong? I can't open the venturi valve AT ALL with the Maxi Jet attached to the Seaclone intake tube, else I will be sprayed!! :(

(So therefore, there are NO BUBBLES getting into the reaction chamber!!)

((PLEASE, NO FLAMES ABOUT ME RUNNING A SEACLONE AND HOW BAD THEY ARE!!))

Sounds like a problem with back pressure. Is the tube to the seaclone clean of obstructions? And if you take the Maxijet off and just run it as a power head in some water does it do the same thing?

The venturi should suck in air as the water goes by, the only reason that I can think of the it would "spit" at you is that the free flow of the water is obstructed somehow.

I figured it out...

I don't have the "Turbo Venturi Intake Connector". That is specific to the SKIMMER and not the Maxi-Jet alone.

So, there's another part I need to get. I think I have a friend who is sending one with another Seaclone. In the meantime, I fashioned a poor excuse for one by inserting the venturi airhose into the end of the intake prefilter grid. It's not skimming, but it's producing some bubbles.
