Hey Guys,
I am not sure if this is allowed, but what the hay. I am doing an order next week(Placed Tuesday,Shipped Wednesday) and I am going to pick it up at the airport. Anyone needs anything PM me, and I will try to get it. I get a pretty good discount. I have a list of stuff I can get and Prices. I can pm them to whoever wants it.

RC does frown on Commercial advertising unless you are a sponsor. Several people have been warned about this. I'm not sure at what point the line is drawn. If you make $$ on an ongoing basis, or are opening up a shop (however small) then you are subject to the rule.
A bunch of people getting together & buying from someone doesn't break the rule (as long as the person they are buying from isn't breaking the rule).
Pretty straight forward??

ok, true I am trying to open up shop, but I am not making money on a direct order! So I am ok...Right?

Scuba_Dave

Yes, if you are not making any money then it is just a bunch of people going in on a group buy to get better prices or save on shipping.

I am not making any money on this! I am just getting the stuff from a friend who does this for a living, and he can get me fairly good prices.

$.02 The Boston Reefers is non profit organization and part of a community including merchants that support us. As such it is our moral obligation to support them. BRS couldn't survive without their support. While we all recognize the importance of saving a buck it should not be at the expense of our position in our community. Other things to consider are the fact that we deal in livestock and have an even higher obligation. To that end getting good prices and getting good discounts is not enough criteria to be welcomed as a vendor on this forum. RC will and does police itself. For BRS all we can do is express opinion as I do here. As a responsible reefer I would want to know an aweful lot more about what I was purchasing and from whom I was purchasing before I would patronize that establishment. I think you'll find that once you gain experience and establish yourself within this community over time, your solicitations for business would be better received. For now I hope to see you at the meetings and swap for some of your findings.

If there is too much stuff I won't be able to pick it all up! I have an SUV, and I can only fit so many boxes.

OK, just dropped my age guess into the 20's, if not teens.

And from the comments, now I know why most people prefer there SO NOT to be on this board.

Hey guys,
unless I spoke to you, I am not going to go on with this pooled order. I got some negative feedback from some people as to me trying to conduct business on this site, and they couldn't be more wrong, but in the interest of a few people I am going to put a stop to this thread. Sorry for the inconvenience.

No offense to you, but you might want to tell a certain someone to stay off the boards til she either grows up or at least understands us & what we are like. She is the 1st person I have had to add to my IGNORE list on PM's

Interesting, I didn't realize that putting someone on your ignore list blocks everything, even their posts.

I didn't mean (ever) to offend someone, we all joke around on this board, which is what I meant by understanding us. God knows people have been making fun of me on my Tankquest 2003.

Hey everyone, let's keep this civil. I'm sure no one intended to offend anyone else and if they did then be the better person and let it slide. Let's get back to talking reef! :)

Hey I was gone, and came back to my computer, I have no clue of what has been going on!

Well these seems like the first squabble I have seen in the BRS forum, albeit small, with exception to Old Ron. Anyway let's not continue it. We can joke around here, as we are all pretty comfortable with each other. Those new to the BRS or looking to join the BRS may sometimes need to be handled differently as we know nothing about their personalities yet. Reefa Keepa, I am sure Dave was joking around, he always is, and well some of his stuff is funny, he has a Giambiesk average, but some is funny. I am talking Jeremy, not Jason.

Just trying to add a little levity, but am serious about the statement.

I meant no harm, I didn't think my comments would be taken at all seriuosly or in the manner they were. Sorry if I hit the wrong button. I do joke around quite a bit, and have been told that my "humor" misses the mark sometimes (with some people).
So, I apologize for posts.
I sometimes forget what it was like for me as a newbie with all the comments that went around. When someone is typing it is hard to tell their true meaning.
Oh and:

Thanks Scuba Dave! I tend to take things quite personal at times and unfortunately, earlier happened to be one of those times... I'm sure reefindanvers would be the first to tell you that I am sometimes a little sensitive... I'll be sure not to let it happen again... and thank you for the warm welcome too!:bounce1:

Now that you are officialy welcomed into the fold.

What kind of tank are you oing to get?
How big?
What kind of critters are you planning on keeping?

You can't let Reefindanvers have all the fun.;)

This is for Dave :uzi:
Wait till he talks you into a 300 g :D

Scuba_Dave

No No no, she can't get a 300g until I get a 300g.

I was checking out a 700g...medication time!!!

Sheesh Dave, just move to Fiji already! There you'll have the biggest tank of all. Seriously though, if the 300 gal comes through, I'll be incredibly jealous.

Actually, I have looked into moving to the Carribean a couple of times, just so I could be near the reefs. All I really need to maintain my day job is a good telecommunications network....

We have a friend that we go with to Cozumel diving. He is an Instructor, cave certified, keeps telling us he is going to retire there. We told him we'll kick in $$ for a 2nd bedroom. I think he could time share out another room & pay for his whole house!
