eel identification

Need some help in Identifying an eel that occupied my liverock that I purchased through tampa bay saltwater. It's about 7 to 8 inches long and about 3/4 inch wide brown in color with some grey spec's, it came from the Gulf of Mexico. Only have seen his whole body once very shy and only comes out at night or when light is off. Don't need him in my tank.

The description fits a couple of possibilities. If you can get a picture that would be best.

As far as removing the eel, the best bet would be to make an eel trap out of a 1Litre soda bottle. Simply cut of the top, invert it and fit back into the bottle. Place some bait in it at night and check back in a couple of hours ;)

I'm w/ Bill on this one, until you post a much better descritpion(or picture), where totally guessing((not just guessing).
Do you have access to Scott Michaels book reef fish vol1? Its has a very complete section on moreys, and garden eels. You might be able to identify your creature from there
