1st I'd like to thank Jeremy for trying to work this out, Orion doesn't have any break point unless he orders like a thousand fans. So rather then have Jeremy go thru the hassle lets get this done.

The ones I'm looking at: 5" fans List price are $24.50 on these
Cost will be $21.28 plus shipping

OA119AP 11-1 130cfm 29db 3000 rpm 400 in stock
OA119AP 11-2 95 cfm 22db 2300 rpm 50 in stock
OA119AP 11-3 74cfm 18db 1400 rpm 200 in stock

once stock is depleted its 6-8 weeks before they re-order

specs
http://www.orionfans.com/accoolfans.htm

To compare: Radio Shack fan is more - $25, 4" 65cfm & 38db

Anyone who wants please post here as CONFIRMATION.

It takes 5 days via ground to ship, less time if we ship 3 day - we'll see how many people jump in & what shipping will be.

I'd like to place an order by the end of Friday. Anyone who needs one after that we can then place a 2nd order. If you order the 2nd fan - just in case they run out, please list a 2nd CHOICE - either another fan or wait (6-8 wks) or cancel

Payment can be made on PU - cash - check, or in advance by check or Paypal. Once we know shipping cost.

I most likely will order (2) 11-1 & (2) 11-2's

Thanx again Jeremy

As a comparison here's the spec. sheet on the Ice-Cap I've seen it advertised as "silent" NOT (I run one and it's loud)
http://www.icecapinc.com/pdf/120mmfan.pdf

47.8db @ 102 cfm

Are they coming from CRA ?

JeremyR
07/17/2003, 06:01 PM
No marco, the prices he's showing are as good as I can get.. there is no wholesale on these fans.

The Sunon fan I have here is about the same DB as the icecap, but it's probably a 12 dollar fan. The icecaps going for what they do is a complete joke. You can get a fan with the icecap specs for 12 or 13 bux in any catalog. I think the temp speed control is lame too.. mine are always on the top speed setting.

Marco67

I agree on the ice cap.
I bought one a year or so back and I'm ready to toss it. It's LOUD, I wish mine would stay on high, but instead it revs up then drops off ...all day long. Makes me wanna throw a shoe at it!

But instead I'll just e-bay it :p

Jeremy are you saying you can get the orions? (I'm real interested in that nice low db)

Marc...

JeremyR
07/17/2003, 09:03 PM
No, what I'm saying is I could get them, but it would cost me the same price it is costing you guys in this thread.. so if I were to apply *any* markup to it, then it becomes a very expensive fan.

Dave,

We had been talking via email but I hadn't received a reply to my last couple of emails. I was interested in 2 of the OA119AP 11-1 130cfm 29db 3000 rpm 12 watts and four fan guards for the two fans. It is my understanding that these are 5 inch fans, is that correct? Hope I am not too late.

regards

Jake

07/18/2003, 12:42 PM
Jake, hi not too late. I thought you had purchased, I'll add you in
5" fan is correct

Work is nuts, system outage, soon as it slows down I can call & place order

Definitely A/C fans. Terminal means (I think) you could either solder or use a quick connect

Jake
07/18/2003, 01:15 PM
Dave,

Do you know whta we are going to have to do to wire these bad boys? THey definitely are AC correct?

Scuba_Dave
07/18/2003, 02:09 PM
I'll have to take a look when I receive them & see what makes sense. I may solder cords on, or use quik connects.

I did receive your E-mails - for some reason Hotmail tossed them in my junk mail folder. I did send you a PM/E-mail at some point about thread.
But I have added you to the list I will order from (haven't updated the one online here - don't worry).
(12) 11-1's
(10) 11-2's

20 guards

how should we arrange payment and pickup?

Scuba_Dave
07/21/2003, 12:04 PM
I'm waiting on confirmation of shipping. They may drop ship directly to me, or 1st to Powell distributor, then to me. I should hear this week (or receive). Once they tell me shipping we can split that between everyone. Then I'll post final "bills".

Scott Merrill
07/21/2003, 12:32 PM
is it too late to add 4 guards?

Scuba_Dave
07/21/2003, 01:01 PM
I'll check. If it is too late there is U Do it electronics less then 1 mile from where I work. I'll check there.

Scuba_Dave
07/22/2003, 11:02 AM
SCott, I talked to them & they are going to see if they can add 4 fan guards to order. If not I will check U-Do it & see what they have - it's right near where I work.

Marco67
07/24/2003, 04:59 PM
What's up with this Dave ?.....any ship date etc... ?
is it a definite ?

Scuba_Dave
07/24/2003, 06:53 PM
They were supposed to call me back to confirm shipping & if they added the 4 fan guards. I'll have to call them again.

Dang it!! Double dang, I knew the SCWD U-tubes had arrived at my mom's but didn't think about the fans. I think both are there now. I'm gonna run up & pu both. I work in Wellesley & will be going to Gloucester for weekend. I'll post when I get back home.

Scuba_Dave
07/24/2003, 08:38 PM
The fans are IN!!
We recd:
(12) 11-1's ...... They look real nice!!!
(10) 11-2's

20 guards

Scott, I will see what U-do It has, they didn't get the additional 4 added to order.

I haven't received any info on the shipping $$ figure, they mail the Invoice separately.
I'll have to figure that out.

I work in Wellesley (right off Rte 128 at Rte 9 - Harvard Pilgrim) if anyone wishes to pu at lunch tomorrow - Noon to 1pm. Or immediately after work 5pm. I am then heading right to Gloucester.

I am unavailable during work hours. I am leaving immediately after work Friday and going camping (Gloucester). So will have to arrange pu next week unless anyone else wants to find me in Gloucester (diving during day).

Monday after work I am going to check out U Do-It electronics for connectors, I will pu enough for anyone who wants them (to wire/quick wire). I may look into some quick-disconnects.

I fired up one fan of each kind. The 11-1 (29db) pushes a lot of air & is fairly noisy, the 11-2 is very quiet. My plan is for the 11-1 to be on the sump (stand will quiet the fan), and the 11-2 on the hood.

I can't imagine the Radio Shack at 38 db's!!!!

Scuba_Dave
07/27/2003, 09:07 PM
Bumpin this back up. We ha d a problem at work Friday & was camping all weekend. have to catch up Monday w/everyone on pu/delivery/payment. I am going to U-Do-It electronics to look for connectors Monday after work.

Scuba_Dave
07/28/2003, 12:20 PM
OK, going to find out shipping cost per person today/tonite.
U-Do-It Electronics (near my work) has Fan guards for $2 w/tax.
I also pu some small quick connectors that fit the fans. They cost .25 per fan (2 pcs). They are "size" 110 for 18-22ga wire, need to be crimped to wire (or soldered). You could also simply solder the wire to the fans connector, but I prefer disconnects.
Let me know if you want the quick disconnects, or if anyone wants additional fan guards.
I'll PM each person w/total (once I hear back on shipping). Thanx

Reef-lite
07/28/2003, 12:36 PM
Dave, I'll take four of those quick connectors if you have any more. When you drop off the u-tubes at tstone's, can you also drop off my four 11-2 fans, two finger guards and quick connectors? Nanonano is going to pick up everything for me from tstone's. Thanks for pulling all of this together. I know it isn't easy chasing people around.

Scuba_Dave
07/28/2003, 08:56 PM
OK, I don't have the Invoice yet, and they haven't charged my credit card yet. So I'm checking the mail tomorrow & hopefully have the breakdown. 1st time I've ever received what I ordered without 1st being charged.
