I was planning on making a kalk stirrer but feel it would be far easier if i was to just use a tank with an undergravel filterplate and a huge deep kalk bed with a fairly large powerhead on it. This would be drilled a couple of inchs above kalk bed with a piece of airline in to drip into main tank on a float switch. Would this design be ok, if not why do you have to use kalk stirrers.
