Two more left

The stand is attached to a 2x6 load bearing wall right behind it and a steel I beam is directly under the wall, with 2X12 floor joists off of it.

Last one for now

I plan on making some type of removable front panel instead of a door, would allow more room to work in side. I am going to wrap the whole thing in 3/4" Tongue and Groove oak

I will have a 29 gallon Sump under the tank and a 20 fuge on the left hand side

Hope you all like

How about some pictures of the completed stand! I am in need of ideas for my 36 gal bow front. Did you build a canopy yet?

Hey looks great. I would suggest putting vertical supports in the corners that support the curved part. As it is you have a shear load on those corners and your fasteners may fail. You could just put another 2x4 against the ones supporting the square patr of the frame. I think you will be happy you did. I can't wait to see the finished pics. Your woork looks great.
Good luck,
BEN

Nice job, but 3/4" T&G oak? isn't that a tad overkill? Unless that stuff is not that expensive there, the T&G isn't going to help you at all as you could get a full sheet of anywhere from 3/8ths (11/32s.. bleh), to 5/8ths (19/32nds double blah!), then put ontop of that 1/4inch oak. Probably would be cheaper in the long run, and would be just as strong. Of course I'm only saying that based upon the prices of plywood here, and what I did ;)

Atually I haven't done much to the stand since the last pictures, I have the tank set up and running on it now. I haven;t covered the frame. As far as strength, it is pretty overkill, it would easily hold twice the weight I have on it now.
I still think I am going to go with the T&G oak, it's pretty inexpensive here, I am going to be using what is refered to Rustic Oak, which has knots and worm holes in it. It is half the price, and I think more attractive.
Not sure when I will finish it, probably sometime this winter.
