When do I add Kalk?

I built a Nilsen kalk reactor a few weeks ago. How do I know when it's time to add kalk powder? There is still a thick cloud that comes up from the bottom when it stirs. Will that cloud go away when the kalk powder is used up?

When the cloud is not as big you or is made up of larger particles you will need to add more kalk.
