Hello,
I had some time this weekend to make a hood for my 90gal reef and thought I would share it with everyone. This is my first post. Thanks for looking.
I use pine and skinned it with birch ply. The inside is painted with white (2 part) epoxy paint. I had the paint left over from when I did the stand and it has held up well.
To cool the hood/tank down I put 2 120mm fans on the back. They are both blowing into the hood. I made the hood with 2 slots in the top to let the heat out. So far this has worked better that I thought it would. The heat from the 2 HQI’s is pushed right out of the slots and the tank temp has remained stable. I also added some space at the top (3 ½ high) to put the ballast for the lights and power strip.
