I am looking for a skimmer for my 20G tank. Is a Prizm Skimeer suitable for a 20G tank?

do a search on prizms, most aren't happy with'em.
i'd go for a CPR BakPak 2R or Remora.

That's what I use on my 20gl.

Aren't skimmers like Remora or BakPak2 meant for larger tanks than 20G?

Skippy2, do you have any problems using the prizm?

The only problem I have had with the prizm is that I am not strong enough (I am a real whimp) to pinch the little air tube to bring it back to prime. I have had it since last Aug. It has lost its prime twice. I turn it off for a few hrs every other day to feed DTs. and so far it has started right back up. Now that I know the problem with the air tube is me I will just use my other hand.:D

I'd go with the CPR Bak Pak

If you don't forsee yourself upgrading to a larger tank in the one to two year picture, the Prizm will be fine for a 20 gallon tank. They perform adequately for up to a 30 gallon aquarium, in my opinion. The problem is the manufacturer claims they can handle up to ~100 gallons. If you might go bigger soon, consider the investment of the options listed above.

i believe they're rated up to 60G by the mgfr, but in my
experience (w/2 BP2R's) i'd say top end is closer to 40G,
so it wouldn't be much over, & i don't think it's possible
to overskim.

I agree the prizm shouldn't be used on anything larger than the 20gl. unless you had a smaller bioload in a larger tank. I am going to upgrade my skimmer for my 55.

I use the standard Remora with a Maxijet 1200, on my 20 hex. Works great.

For a 20g tank a RemoraPro,CPR bakpak or PM HOT-1 would be sufficient.

Skippy,

Try placing the black hose on the other nipple when trying to prime the prizm. This works better than squeezing the end and it is how the instructions say to do it.
