Please check out this diagram for a sump/refugium and let me know what tweaks I need to make. The sump will push @ 900 gallons an hour. Will this be too much for the fug to handle?

That's pretty much of how my sump is.. except mine is external pump so my refugium is a lil bit bigger. :D LOOKS GREAT!

Wait.. why did you leave so much space for the pump?

I have read that the more water that you keep in the return chamber the less water top offs are necessary. Correct me if I'm wrong since I am a newbie at this.

You'll still need the same amount of top off. It just doesn't look as visible with a larger return section volume. It does give youmore leeway as far as time between top offs. Longer for the water level to drop sufficient enough to cause problems.

DJ88: That is what I meant to say. I know that the amount will be the same, but you won't have to top off as often.

Does this design look OK?

Looks good. I might incorporate your design into mine.

I have been rethinking/retooling this diagram and wanted to show the changes and get some opinions. I wanted to increase the skimmer chamber so that I won't have any problems with larger in sump skimmers in the future. As a result, I have decreased the size of the draw chamber. Check out the diagram and let me know what you think.

It looks like it will work fine.

looks good but i will put the sump left to right so the overflow has only short way to go to the skimmer chamber, is easier to have longer return hose.
