I'm working on specs for a Glass tank that will be 30" tall x 24" wide x 24" deep. The tank will sit 6' inside the stand so that the 6" DSB won't be visible from the front or side making the actual viewing area 24" cube.

I have figured out from the glass thickness calculations I have found on the web that I will want 1/2" plate glass sides and 3/5" glass plate bottom.

What I haven't figured out is if I need any sort of bracing for the top? If bracing is necessary for this design, I want a "clean" look, and will be having a S/S (resturant grade) hanging hood built to install my lighting in. I don't want to use anything that is not made of glass and can't be attached flush to the top, preferably inside and not ontop.

Again, is bracing necessary? And if so what are my design options?
