At my local hardware store they sell 1/4 in plexi glass, they tell me it's the same thing as acrylic. Is it?

If not, where should I look for Acrylic?

thanks

Plexi glass is just a manu. of acrylic. The thing that you want to be sure in getting is that it is cell cast and not extruded or continuous cast! If that helps any what are you trying to build if you dont mind telling me?:p

I'm going to build a sump and refugium.

How do I find out about the "cast"?

Did you personally see the acyrilic that your hardware store was selling. if it was plexiglass brand g that is what you want. cast is really heavy compared to extruded or polycarbonate.

Yes, I saw the sheets of acyrlic.

The reason I asked the question is because they do sell some sheets that are labeled acryrlic. They are just too thin. The only 1/4" they sell is plexi glass.

It was very heavy and as far as I could tell it didn't look different than any other acyrlic i've seen.

It will say right on the sheet( plexiglass G acrylic sheet) on the paper backing it will. That is the stuff you want there is a plexi glass mc and it is extruded I think. Plexi glass is made in mexico
