Is it ok to silicone in acrylic baffles in a glass tank used as a sump? Wondering if heat has any expansion effect on the acrylic that might cause my sump to crack?

no heat problems at 75 to 85 degrees. Silicone is fine, I do suggest that you run a silicone bead on both sides of the acrilic. The silicone does not adhere well to the acrylic, so beading it on both sides helps. I did the same thing in my sump, and have no problems with it. The seal does not have to be water proof, you are just installing the baffels to cut down/out on the bubbles being returned to the display. Right? Worked for me fine.

This might be too late but make sure you use an aquarium safe silicone!

Thanks Serpentine. Yes I'm not concerned with leaks, because it's just to eliminate bubbles.
