Auto top off...... yet another

My question is this: Where do I top off, in the display tank, or in the sump?

My preference is the sump, that way the water has more of a chance to stabilize its salinity before it comes into contact with any fish or corals. I also prefer to use a float valve to do my top-off for me, I have one that is connected to a container of RO water that is fed to the sump via gravity. HTH, Skip
