I'm trying to figure out a storage to top off system and maximize RO/DI life.

The best I can come up with is a 100 gallon storage container that will use a Float switch to pump to top off the sump.

But the problem is how do I deal with

1) Only filling the storage container when it gets to a low point and stopping at its high point. Thus the RO/DI is not constantly turning on and off.

2) How do I deal with the bad water out of the RO/DI on initial start up?

Thanks for any ideas.

I don´t use a refill container. Instead of that, I use a garden watering timer. The set-up is as follows: four times a day (time and duration programmable), the watering timer opens its valve and lets water get in the sump.

The watering timer I use (a "Gardena" one) has got the posibility to use a humidity sensor to control wheter it would operate or not. Instead of using it, I have connected a float switch to this input (really easy: switch open means refilling, and viceversa). So, if the sump level is ok, the system won´t add more water.

Hope it´s usefull.
