My fire goby has some rips in his tail fins, just noticed this out of the blue. There aren't any pieces missing, it doesn't look like someone bit him. I haven't seen anyone harassing him either. There are about 4 "slices" in it.

I immediately checked water quality:
ammo - 0
trites - 0
pH - 8.2
calc - 400-450 (not a good test kit)
SG - 1.022
alk - med to high (not a good test kit)
trates - 10

I feed a combination of formula 1 & 2 and mysis shrimp.

Any ideas?

Could be any of the fish you have that may have nipped at the little booger or even a crab.
Keep a eye on the fish, also make sure the tank is covered, if he is threaten he may jump from the tank.

This sounds more like physical damage than disease to me.
