i've always used kent marines kalkwasser and i had great results, i have never tried any other brands but i would imagine its all the same, i cant think of any other way a company would make kalkwasser powder.

I've tried several brands and never noticed any differences between them. I now use Ball Pickling lime. Same as kalk but MUCH less costly. Approx $2 per pound. Use it just like kalk.

Also use Ball pickling lime.

From the label,

"Hydrated Lime"

"35% calcium, 0% Iron"

If youre using a reactor with a pump like a Maxi, ESV is the best, no impeller wear at all, 6 months no problem whatsoever, some "lime" or other products are notorious for wipin out pumps.

I have used Kent's, Two Little Fishies and ESV. ESV is the only one that totally dissolves with no residue left.
