do i need silicone from the LFS or HD carry them?

does HD carry silicone that is for fish tank use??? my LFS sell them but like 10 bucks for a small tube......I was wondering if HD has them if so what brand ? thank you

You can use Silicone from HD, however read the label very carefully to make sure it is 100% silicone. Some of the silicone carried by HD contains mold/mildew inhibitors and this would be detrimental to your tank.

Get the GE Silicon II (http://www.gesealants.com/sealants/diy/portfolio/silicones/silicone2.shtml) over at HD. Just not the kitchen and bath variety which contains those nasty mildew inhibitors Griss talks about.

HD carrys Aquarium Silicone in small tubes in the paint area. They are not the big caulk gun type tubes. They are basically the ones that the LFS carries. I believe in my area they were $2.97 a tube. Not sure of the quantity.

Go to the link I provided for the GE silicone. GE Silicone II is 100% pure silicon. JUST DONT BUY THE KITCHEN/BATH VERSION. I use it all the time.

i just went to HD and reading the instruction on the silicone II by GE

it stated " NOT USE FOR:....aguariums.."

and I don't find aquarium silicone at HD ...I guess I have to spend 3 times the money at the LFS then...

why GE II is safe ??? it has like 3 or 4 kinds of silicone II clear, white, brown, etc etc.

Home Depot carries a Silicone for aquariums. It comes attached to a blue backround and says "Aquarium Silicone" I'm not sure of the full name or item code but it is noticeable and should be with the other glues and silicones.

the DAP aquarium silicone is made by the manufacture that made the silicone we see in the LFS..what a rip off...
