What do you think could cause polyps to stay closed up, mushrooms to wither, an anemone to remain retracted, and Xenia to shrink?

Parameters are:
380 ca
8.6 ALK
8.2 pH
0.5 Ammonia
0.0 Nitrite
0.75 ppm Nitrates ( from tap, tap tests 0.50 )\

P.S. I started running carbon this morning just to be safe, also did a 25% water change two days ago to help.

Have you done anything different in the house recently, like painting?

The only thing I have noticed is that a few mushrooms detached and then disappeared behind the rockwork. I just netted two out that were melting, but I know there have been more than that. Toxin release?

Tank almost always varies from 80-82 in the morning to 84-86 by the end of the photo period, has been this way for two years.

Check any powerheads to be sure they are turning. Also, check for stray voltage!

0.5 Ammonia

I presume this came from mushrooms dying?

Have you double checked your test kits with the LFS to make sure they are still accurate?
