I'm thinking about adding a metal halide to my PC and notice that all the fixtures start at around $200 plus the bulb. Does any body have a cheep way of doing this inside a canopy?

thanks Alan

champion lighting has a pretty good sale on mh so does hellolights. I would get a spider reflector with your system and just mount that inside your canopy. Make sure your canopy can house MH.

I made a 400 watt sytem for a total of $83 dollars. I was given a ballast (~$40)and mogul socket (~$10). I have several mogul sockets lying around. I got a union box at Lowes for $14. I put the ballast in it and cut the end off an extension cord and used the extra wire to wire it all up. I got a 6500k iwasaki at http://hellolights.com for $59 and built the fixture using my dads metal brake and a reflector I found here at work. (use aluminum:rolleyes: -i didn't). Works great and I could build another if I need to. Lesser wattage costs slighter lesser $$$
