Is teflon tape safe on pumps?

I just recently added a used Skilter filter/protein skimmer to my 20 gallon tank to at least have some type of protein skimming, but the pump seems to be leaking just a slight bit.
I think that it's probably just because it's slightly loose where it fits into the plastic filter body.
Can I use teflon tape to make a tighter seal?

you sure can :) I use it on all of my threaded fittings.

Yes, using telfon tape will be fine.

Thanks, but it turns out that the actual problem was just an old, worn o-ring. I changed that and it's all good now.
But at least I know that if I ever do need teflon tape, it's safe!
