Just Added SALT!!!! Got a question.

I just added Red Sea Salt to a new 75gallon tank. How long after I mix it do I need to test it for salt levels?


Also, what's the best salt level?

What kind of tank are you setting up? FO, Reef, ect?

We keep our tanks at 1.025. You should wait until you can no longer see any undissolved salt, or 'wavy' areas where the salt concentration is higher/lower than the surrounding water. I'd measure in an hour, then again in 2-3 hours. For our water changes, we usually let it mix and come to temp for at least 24 hours.
