2 Q's on caulerpa

I've read that keeping it trimmed will keep it from going "sexual"..

Is this true? - Has anyone seen theirs blow it's load even though it was recently trimmed back?

The other (more newbie like) is that I recently added some grape caulerpa that now appears to be "bleaching" out... Is that fairly normal?? - What does it indicate?

If you keep the refugium light on 24/7, that is also supposed to prevent it from going asexual.

I've only been doing it for 3 months but it seems to work so far...
