r u sure that it is bristle worms? I have a tank that is now a month old w/ 200 lbs of live rock in it and I also witness these spurts of white crap every so often. I thought that I had caught all of the bristle worms but maybe you are right, anyway I too am wondering what this stuff is and if it's harmfull.

Hear any clicking sounds? It could be a mantis shrimp.

It sounds like thats exactly what they're pumping out. Shouldn't hurt anything IMO

no it's not a spawning,I would be more out to say that I up-set them by moving the rock around,I think it is the bristles wanting to defend ....

it could be a mass spawning (maybe), alot of animals
will attempt to save the species during crisis.
(moving rocks = seaquake?????)

or it might be a load of crap. :D
