Here's the situation. I have a 36" PC light running 2 55Watt bulbs that is about one year old. Yesterday one of the bulbs went off, and Im pretty sure I have diagnosed it as the ballast. (by checking the bulb on another ballast). Is there any hope for this, and does this a little odd that this ballast would crap out this soon after buying the unit?

Are there seperate switches for each bulb? And have you tried switching bulbs socket to socket? Ballasts do go bad ocassionally but bulbs failing is much more common. And what brand fixture and bulbs? The imported Chinese made ones seem to have a much higher failure rate.

I had a ballast go out on me after almost exactly one year on a 2x55w fixture. I ordered a workhorse ballast and rewired it, when I took the fixture apart the original ballast wasn't covered and it was just glued onto the inside of the fixture. I'm glad I replaced it.
