This frag. fell onto some zooanthids and a few days later it started to die. I figured some of it would die off from being stung from the zoos but it started to deteriorate fast. I took some of the film from the dying coral and put it under the scope. There were thousands of these guys swimming around. I assume these guys are opportunistic feeders. I am not sure if the coral die off is from bacteria infecting the damaged coral tissue or from these little guys. These guys look like they have pigment in them which I assume is from the coral. This makes me assume that they were eating the coral tissue itself?? Anyways I dipped the coral in some potassium iodine and it seems to of helped. enjoy the pic

hey I notice that coral :) Im just glad to see that its not the dreaded monti nudi....what type of lighting do you have on the frag? I would put it up a bit higher if you still have it in the sandbed.

Don't know for sure but they looklike some sort of paramicium. Reminded me of a slide of swamp algae I saw in biology in high school. If thats wah they are they should't be a threat and chances are they're all over the tank to some degree. What powerlens did you use in the microscope.
