I can only get quikcrete at the local HD. Is this the same as southdown. Quikcrete is not bright white, what color is southdown?

Quickcrete works fine. It is not as white as SD but it doesn't look bad when you have it in a tank. I have it in my latest tank.

quickrete is concrete mix...you definitely DO NOT want to use it. unless quickrete brand sells just bags of sand...do they?

duh...of course you weren't talking about the concrete mix. quickrete actually just sells sand?

I am refering to quikcrete playsand. Not the concrete mix... Oh my that would be a mess...

there is also a type of sand used for sandblasting. it is darn near pure white. you may want to look into that.

Southdown IS available at the Home Depot on Kyrene and Warner in Tempe, AZ

It's located in the front by the prodesk

By any chance can you get me the number to the Home Depot?? I'm going to take a road trip there and grab me like 500 lbs for my new 150 gallon reef tank I'll be setting up in august.. :P

That's too bad you didn't say something sooner. I just came back from San Diego...:-)

The number 480-496-7362 ask for Ron. There's not much left so you should pre-pay and pick up later.

He did have concerns that the bags say Not for use in fish tanks....

If you can't get southdown, look for the Quikrete PREMIUM play sand. There's two different kinds. The premium one is the same color as southdown.

Now wouldnt that be funnie..."Some one buys Quikrete, thinking it's sand, and dough.....!!..ITS CONCRETE......!!!!!..that would be so embarrassing, I would defenitely hate life..and get a new hobby...lol

I would hope they dont post it..
