How long does it take a new tank setup to become stable? I understand calc and alk readings a usually low in a new setup! Also, if I increased the SG. from 1.021 to 1.023 would the PH, alk and calc change? ( mine are on the low side )

Calcium and alkalinity should be "stable" within a few days at worst. However, going forwards, as organsims begin to use claciuma nd alkalinity they willd ecline.

Yes, most salt mixes start low (usually with calcium in the mid 300's and alk around 2.5 meq/L).

If you increase the sg, everything goes up. Going from a sg of 1.021 to a level reflective of seawater (1.026-1.027), everything in the water will rise by about 24-29%.

pH won't change much from a sg change.

Thanks for the quick reply! I've been keeping the SG. low to reduce the chances of ich in newly introduced fish, but I think my LR. is suffering because of it! I will increase the SG. slowly and see what happens! thank you
