I am building a new house and am thinking about putting my 180 into a closest. The front will be the only part showing in the family room. Anyone have photos and ideas on this setup?? Suggestions are welcome

Only suggestion I have is to make sure that the floor is properly supported underneath. Also, make sure you have good ventilation for salt creep and heat transfer.

LeeU,
I like that whole picture frame look around the tank.

Here is a shot of my 265 behind the wall.

The best thing I did was to build a deck behind the tank so I can stand above the tank to lean in and clean the front glass.

Bryan,

Beautiful tank!!! I'd turn the sofa around so you could sit back and enjoy the tank!:D

mirski57, Thanks, the bottom molding is actually a mantel that matches the shelves and fireplaces, and it is high enough to allow you to lean on it to look at the tank. I agree with Bryan about the work platform for cleaning, I have a 14 wide flip down plat form that is built onto my Uni-Strut tank stand as the bottom of my tank is 42 off of the floor. I also had a SS grab rail that will bolt to the wall studs alowing me to lean on it instead of my tank. LeeU

Thanks everyone for the responses. Great tanks!! I hope that mine will be as good. Keep the links and photos coming. I know that there are more in wall units out there.

Make a built in fuge to go with it. Refugiums can be awsome tanks in their own right... I'm talkin' seahorses... macroalgea...

It could show in a different room... like the kitchen or sumthing.
Good Luck

Here is a link to a recent thread on this very subject. The thread also contains a pic of my 65 gal that I built under the stairs in the basement. PM me if you would like additional info.
