First, I'm not sure what kind of anenome this is.. I think its a sebae?

Anyway.. it seems to be growing at an alarming rate - at what point is it too big for a tank? It's making it so I cant place any corals around that side of the tank (55 gal) - should I try a different, smaller type anenome? I'm thinking about seeing if the LFS will trade me for a different type...

It's tentacles are almost able to wrap around the rock next to him..

Feeding a small piece of shrimp about every 3 days. If I cut back to once a week will he shrink?

Any suggestions?

It appears that you have a condy (Condylactis gigantea), not a sebae. It's a species that comes from the Western Atlantic and does not host any clowfish by nature. They are a very hardy species and will grow quickly, especially if you feed it every 3 days. If your goal is to have an anemone and host clownfish, bag this one and trade it for something else at your lfs.
