View Full Version : Too much flow for CBB?

I just got a CB Butterfly for my reef, beautiful fish. He seems to be bullied quite a bit by the flow generated by 1100 gph return & wavemaster pro w/4 MJ1200s in a 125 tank. Is this too much water movement or will he get used to it? Also, will he have a hard time chasing food in these conditions? I've done my research, but flow requirements for a fish never crossed my mind. Thanks for the help.

It is most likely just getting used to the higher flow rates it is experiencing in your tank compared to the suppliers. Id give it a few days.

Mine does fine with an ~800gph oscilatting pump, and my ~ 900 gph return.

I would put on the feed feature on the wavemaster, this way it will have time to get enough food. Eventually, you will be able (and want too) hand feed the cb so yo can make sure it gets its fair share of food.

I agree with the above. He's just getting used to the new flow. Also, a lot of fish like to hang out in the flow, they usually stop after being introduced into the tank for awhile.

Just keep an eye on him.
