Yes, I was warned about flowers. But I'd had one in my tank lying horizontally in the sand for 6 months without any critter losses at all. So I got another one! This one, however, pushed its foot into a hole in the live rock so that it is vertical, not horizontal. First there was an empty nassarius shell in the sand next to it one morning. Then it was my fighting conch. I noticed that the anemone was closed the night before and wondered if it had something. Sure enough the next morning, there was my conch shell, completely empty. I'm not sure when the anemone actually got it, because now I'm noticing the anemone is closed every night (I'm so nervous now I do a fish check to make sure they're all right). It's odd because my old one never closed unless I fed him directly.

Sorry to hear about your loss. If fighting conches are as expensive as they are where I live, and if it eats anymore, you might as well get rid of it.
