I'm looking for recommendations on hang-on Protein Skimmers. My SeaClone (that I praised earlier) is leaking beyond repair.

I'm thinking of getting the Turboflotor 1000 Multi.

Thoughts? Personal experiences? Other suggestions?

What size tank? Under 75g, remora with the MJ.

With the hang on back skimmers most people choose the remora like Casino stated or the cpr back pac. I use the remora with the maxi jet1200 series pump. I think your best bet would be the remora.

It's a 55 gallon tank.

Thanks for the other suggestions.

Does anyone here own a Turobflotor 1000 multi?

Checkout ebay. They have some nice skimmers for that size tank.

I have the bak pak 2 on my 30 gallon and although I have limited experience with skimmers, this sucker pulls a lot of junk out of the water.

I am a big fan of the cpr hang-on's for small tanks they are workhorses! I would highly reccomend it, its easy to operate, clean and understand. Great for the new hobbyist.

Just curious, I don't see any one mentioning a Red Sea Prizm. Does any one have any experiance with these, I have one because it is what my LFS recommended for my 55 gallon set up.]

It seems to work ok but I have no basis for comparison.

I have a prizim, But I also have two other hangon filters with it. A Magnum and a skilter, The skilter is just a filter though, not the filter/simmer in one. Does fine for me.
