I just bought a large sebae anemone from a friend. In his small tank, it was about 12 inches wide. In MY larger tank it has opened up to OVER 18 inches wide! How can I "encourage" it to split? This guy is way to big for my taste, although the breeding pair of gold striped maroons in it love it.

"Sebae" can mean at least three different species. I don't think any of them reproduces asexually.

I thought that most anemones were capable of asexual reproduction? If not, I sure hope this one doesnt grow any more. I am going to have to stop feeding it and hope that it shrinks. (I have only fed it once, but the guy I bought it from fed it twice a week)

The books say that only E. quadricolor and H. magnifica reproduce asexually. It's a real inconvenience for many of us.
