Sounds like hes bleached. He basically lost his symbiotic algae which gives the anemone energy. This usually results with inadequate ligthing, or if your lamps are old.

What size is your tank? How deep is it?

What are the water params? Why did you lose your clown? Could it be an indicator??

75, 18 in deep lost the clown to ich & everyone else, been fishless for 3 mo. have another clown in qt that comes out tommorow, i forgot to mention that when i lost the clown the anemone left his post & went behind the rocks, hes getting some light i think

Mine turned white when it moved higher. I don't know why but it looks whiter and smaller.

Had a similar problem. Green BTAs loose colour over short period but continue to feed and divide (now 5, all white). All water tests fine, lighting is MH. SPS frags growing well in same tanks so not sure why colour change.

I had a friend that had this happen to a bubble tip anemone because he wasn't doing enough water changes. Once a week water changes and adding iodine to the tank brought the anemone back to health in no time at all.
