I'm having a tad bit of trouble gathering Amp info on my new system. The current electrician rate is $130 per 20 Amp outlet run. Below is what I want to run...would like outlet ideas.

100g
Three 250w MH Sunlight Supply Ballasts
Two 250w heaters
Two 30w Actinic Flourescents
Two CPU fans in hood
One Mag 12 pump
One 24" shop light for fuge
One Wavemaster Wavemaker with four MP1200 PH's

I'm going to design an "outlet bank" but need to know the best route for new wall outlets to plug everything in.

 Thanks!!

With what you have listed I would say 2 maybe three tops. I added my sub box and I have 4 20 amp breakers. One will be for the main pump only. One will be for the tank lighting only. One will be for Refugiam lighting only, and the last one will be for misc pumps and gagets. I still may piggy back onto the lighting breakers if it seems like the load is to great on my misc breaker.
The price quoted $130 is he running condit and wires or is that just to pop in a new breaker?

Based on your description, I think you could get away with 2 circuits. You can always add another later as your system grows...:)

The $130 was for a single outlet total with labor and materials.

Two will be plenty for what you have listed... If you think that you will be upgrading your tank any time in the future you may want to have 3 or 4 installed just to be safe.

Wow I am really impressed at the cost that you were quoted. That seems like a good price to add one circuit. Is this new construction? As a point of reference I just had one added and the going rate was upward of $300. (The final price was $500 because my fish tank is located in a part of the house that has no basement and cathedral ceilings....)

At that price I would add 3. Thats a good price!

is that for just adding an outlet in the wall on an existing circuit? or is that for a home-run wiring job from the breaker box to the location? make sure you're putting each outlet on a dedicated circuit. you can add power strips if needed in the future.

doing an over estimate of your system:

900W - Three 250w MH Sunlight Supply Ballasts
500W - Two 250w heaters
100W - Two 30w Actinic Flourescents
50W - Two CPU fans in hood
150W - One Mag 12 pump
50W - One 24" shop light for fuge
200W - One Wavemaster Wavemaker with four MP1200 PH's

(again, overestimating, and assuming 120VAC in USA) total system use approx 1950W = 16.25A

technically, you could get away with one outlet, but it'd be pushing it, i'd definitely go with two.
