my brother in law feeds his shrimp from the grocery store chopped up small enough that it can the pieces down. same stuff he feeds his eel.

everything attached, just cut up into slivers small enough to fit into its mouth. it also eats freeze dried krill.

I feed mine krill, silverslides, brine shrimp with a turkey baster, and shrimp from the grocery store if my wife doesnt eat it all first.

Mine will eat anything I feed it: shrimp, scallop, silversides and Formula One pygmy angel food (I no longer have the fish). I would recommend shelling the fish since if they can't digest the shell, it will come back up anyway.
Of course, cut everything into bite-size pieces.
