The reason I ask is because I used some stuff called stop parasite about 2 months ago for ich. Its a pepper based product that smelled like taco sauce. Anyway it said to use carbon to remove it. The stuff lowers ph something terrible. I cant seem to get ph above 8.0 and thought this may be my problem.

I put a bag of matrix carbon at my return pump in sump. Are there any reasons not to use carbon?

Actually, it probably was taco sause. Some of the reef products are just relable food products with a high price tag.

I used carbon continiously without any ill effect.

I actually tasted the stuff and it tastes exactly like taco bell hot sauce. Will the carbon pull anything out that I want to keep?

i run carbon in a high flow area of my sump for 1-2 weeks out of the month. IMO/IME the positive effects of running carbon outway any potential negative effects (which im still not really convinced there are any, except possibly the introduction of phosphates with lower grade carbon).
